Critical Chain

"And how many weakest links do we have in a chain?"
Johnny stresses the word 'weakest.'"

If your projects are running late, where can you turn for help?

First, buy (and read) Eli Goldratt's Critical Chain.

Second, call me and see if I can help.

Third, apply focus.

Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, Jonah

P.S. In case you did not know, CPM (Critical Path Method) is for skunkworks and other infinite resource environments... most businesses today live in the finite world of matrix management models. That basically explains why your projects are late. Remember: there is only one weakest link in any system.

more OODA loops

Scott Sonnon on Col John Boyd and the OODA Loop

What could a coach for cage fighting teach the MBA about business?

A lot.

Scott gives a great example of applying common sense to the world of competitive cage matches, when he explains,

"The opponent who cycles more slowly through the OODA Loop begins to feel farther and farther behind, like being sucked down a vortex: his options seem fewer, his reactions slower and less effective, his concentration scattered and his focus dim, his energy drains away and his success less likely (he feels more hopeless.)"

Good stuff.

Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, Jonah

P.S. Need to make it real for your business?

The Journey

Its the Journey, dude!

I love the advice, "measure twice, cut once." A few words say a lot. Four little words, strung together, yet they convey great wisdom.

How many times have you heard, "success is the journey, not a destination"? Over at sales 101 dot info things are heating up. Plus the launch of a new business magazine "all about result$ and the people that create them" is taking form.

Gecko said, "lunch is for whimps."

I say, "retirement is over rated!"

Steve Jobs' Commencement Speech

This is a great speech. The mellow Jobs gives us a great snapshot into the events that shaped his destiny. Including a bout with cancer. Thanks to Drew and YouTube.

Some of the best 15 minutes on the net.

Next Dr Lisa Boot Camp

Outstanding. Simply brilliant.

At the end of August (yes, just last week!) I had the privilege of attending Dr Lisa's Mafia Offer Boot Camp. Amazing. I know Lisa is brilliant. Brad the consummate COO. Oh, and yes, insert disclaimer here: Dr Lisa is a client and I may experience financial gain from my efforts to promote the Science of Business.

However, I agreed to pay "full boat" as they say for the class. And I accomplished my goal. Which is nothing more (or less) than Lisa promises every attendee:

"If you prepare before arriving,
pay attention and focus on task,
you will leave with a Mafia Offer."

I did. We created an offer that I honestly believe cannot be refused by the rational business owner. My target prospect. Much like my intensive Jonah training with Dettmer, this boot camp is intense! Come prepared to work. To do your homework. Turn off your cell phone. Focus.

There is still time to attend the next group session.

Or schedule a private session.

Great Review by Chet Richards

A Great Review for a Great Book

This most excellent review comes from one of the most knowledgeable experts on the late Col. John Boyd's work.

I knew the combination of Boyd and Constraints Management was profound. But what do I know? I am just a guy that loves to solve problems. In ninety days (or less). It helps to have smart friends.

Thanks Chet.

Steve Jobs and the new iPods

Jobs does it again

On Sunday, a group of us were sitting around a table at Starbucks, when out comes an iPhone to show off some YouTube videos... now the rest of us can do likewise. No iPhone required.
