FYI: For those in Northeast Ohio (or those willing to travel here), Dettmer and I are presenting the six day workshop on The Logical Thinking Process in Ohio from July 28th to August 3rd.It has been said that those with the "quickest rate of change" survive. Not so quick? Burnt toast! But too often we in leadership roles forget the concept of trust. Mutual trust. Change cannot happen without it. In the case of a fighter jet, the pilot must trust his equipment to execute a fast transient... more so in directing the people of a business organization. For it always boils down to one factor that is more important than the others: people. People. Ideas. Execution—in that order™ Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, Jonah (330) 432.3533 ski@throughput.us ©2010 Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey. All rights reserved. Photo is in the Public Domain.

Asymmetrical Fast Transients
Asymmetrical Fast Transients
One of the core concepts that influenced Colonel John Boyd's thinking process and, most recently my own. I have been studying change (and therefore resistance to change) for some weeks now. It started in earnest as I prepared to present an overview of Constraints Management at the DoD Performance Symposium just outside Washington DC.
For those new to SKI on Throughput, Constraints Management is the official model H. William Dettmer created when he injected Boyd's thinking into the Logical Thinking Process of Eli Goldratt's Theory of Constraints.

Calling NE Ohio Business Authors
I am looking to feature NE Ohio authors
on my SKI on Business blog
If you have written (or co-authored) a business book and you reside (or have active clients) in North East Ohio, then I want to talk with you. Even better, if you would like to get published, I might be able to help. As the rejection slips started mounting, I decide to self-publish Purple Curve Effect. My publishing company has published two additional books, and are looking for more. But I digress...
Looking for additional outlets for your book?
Give me a shout if you qualify.

Driving Results
Are you driving Results
or Miss Daisy?
This morning I awoke to the remnants of a dream of driving nails... and over coffee tried to make sense of that which seemed weird (at best). I happened (was it really happenstance?) to grab a copy of Selling Power magazine. Which of course contained some good material on producing results. By the way, if you are still using commissions in an attempt to produce lasting results, it won't work. But I digress...
From my experiences "driving results" for over twenty years, looking back, the biggest roadblock (repeatedly!) is the power of the "assumption" to stall all forward progress. I see it most every day. Day in and sadly day out. Want to get my attention? Invite me to a project and then tell me we can ignore "this or that" component.
It won't work. If it does, it is so "in the face of the odds" that it cannot be duplicated. And, if it cannot be duplicated, then I am not interested. W. Edwards Deming covered this fact [paraphrasing], "Success is 94% the result of your system."
No results? No system. Or more likely, the wrong system.
If you are a business owner in North East Ohio and would like a shoulder to cry on, get a dog. Looking for some sound (and proven) insights for driving results? Let's talk tomorrow.
If you would rather just sell out and move south before winter hits, call me today.

Newest TOC Jonah Workshop
Coming to NorthEast Ohio in July
The Jonah3G™ Workshop
For those lovers of the best selling business novel, The Goal by Eli Goldratt, comes the workshop that will translate the knowledge of Constraints Management (also known as Theory of Constraints or TOC) from the pages of that book (and others, like H. William Dettmer's The Logical Thinking Process and my own Purple Curve Effect) to your brain. We also feature the wisdom of Colonel John Boyd by way of Chet Richards' book, Certain to Win.
Is it painful?
Absolutely! This 3rd generation approach includes the latest advances in cause and effect logic, strategy formulation as well as intense, hands very much on, application to your unique challenge. A case study that you actually select and must solve for your "day job" so to speak. In fact, the course is so intense, we work three days straight (8 to 5) then give you two days off to recover, then come back for the final two days of classroom instruction. We then follow up in four to eight days with an extended phone session to address your unique circumstances as you apply the lessons learned.
Additional details online at the SKI on Business blog as well as actual secure online registration vie EventBrite.
First things first: let's discuss your need for such robust and thorough training.
Call me.

Status Quo
Fighting Status Quo
Over on the "new & improved" www.throughput.us web site, I was explaining "People first" and touched on the concept of Status Quo. For most of my consulting career, the first option on my quotes for new business deals is this odd sounding selection.
Why?
People become entrenched and often take on that attitude, "If the solution is not invented here, it won't work here." How stupid. Yet most of us are guilty of that mistake. And worse!
But let's take a closer look to the real cause: change.
Mr or Ms Business Owner is fighting "the good fight" as we say, but there is less and less profit left at the end of each month. If any! So they look around and decide that if GM can lay off major portions of a highly skilled workforce, then maybe we should too.
Then I call and suggest I can help. "No thanks."
How stupid!
You know absolutely nothing about GM's situation (especially if you are getting it third hand from the media) or as I call them, "constraints", and yet you are happy to duplicate a very flawed methodology. Better still, you will explain it as "common sense" and tell your significant other that everyone is struggling. "It's the economy!"
Wrong
There are plenty of companies making money. Hiring people. Expanding operations. And generally very enthusiastic about their future. Especially given the fact that many a competitor has already conceded the war. Think about this scenario for a minute... 60 whole seconds: let's put a face to it by holding up an example: salesforce dot com. Ticker symbol: $CRM
Change
Markets change. Yet there you are, clinging to Status Quo as your economic boat catches fire and begins to sink. How is it we decide to jettison personnel at exactly the moment we need "all hands on deck" to fight the good fight? Wrongheaded thinking, mostly. When you see examples of "common practices" like lay offs as cost cutting measures, that is exactly the moment you need some uncommon common sense.
That is exactly what I bring to the table.
Markets change. Do you?

Open for Business in Canton, Ohio
Throughput comes to North East Ohio
I find myself on a project that requires a commitment of at least twelve months back in Ohio. One that leaves me plenty of free time to expand my consulting and mentoring efforts and time to tackle new assignments. And so, I am seeking a suitable store front in Canton to hang out the "open" sign... so watch for details soon.
For those that might want to learn more about me and my successes, probably my LinkedIn profile is the best starting point. Of course there is always a google search in order to find the highlights.
Note too, there is also a new SKI on Business blog for my random thoughts on putting more money in your pocket and The Throughput Shop for quick purchases of the tools you might need to fashion a number of solutions. As always, do let me know what you are thinking. Plus, to alert me to any "must have" tools that I should add to the shop.
If I can help, give me a shout.
