Travel Log

My new home away from home! An amazing start this year, doing a little personal flying, but mostly business, mostly on SouthWest Airlines, I have been doing a lot of traveling this year. Stops include Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, Raleigh, Denver, Saint Paul (twice), Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Oakland, Fresno and of course Cleveland and Akron/Canton. That might explain the lack of new blog entries. Do not give up on me just yet... I am working on a new "P&Q" post that should help those still wrestling with Contraints Management to "get it" as we say. This brilliant example by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt shows that there is more to management and leadership than sales forecasts. Or cost reduction. FYI: Here is a great post on an article in APICS magazine. Jeff 'SKI' Kinsey, Jonah

American Hero

Can an object be a 'hero'? What about the icon behind the object? For sure! Dan Hanlon is that icon behind the Excelsior-Henderson Super X American motorcycle. Have you ever been passionate about an object? A mere physical representation of the American Dream? I have. On numerous occasions. My original 1984 Apple Macintosh. My first and second Merkur XR4Ti sports coupes. My NeXT computer. My iPod mini. My iMac mini. Both my 2003 Buell's: first the Lightning and now the Firebolt. And now, my 1999 Excelsior-Henderson Super X:

Thanks to my brother Todd, who bought the first X, then to my brother Mark for buying me Dan's book, "Riding the American Dream", I now know the icon and true American Hero, Dan Hanlon. And own one of his masterpieces.

Looking for the business message in this blog?

Buy the book. It is not just about motorcycles.

P.S. Maybe I will see you at the Super X Rally in LeCenter, MN on Saturday?

P.P.S. Here is the FLICKR slideshow from the event... --ski 07/10/2006
